Just down the hill from Villa, Jendela di Bali is the town of Gianyar, very much local and off the beaten touristy track. It also happens to be the best place on Bali to experience a truly locals-only night market of traditional street foods. Vlogger Mark Weins shares with you exactly the sort of dishes you can experience if you visit - this night market is an easy drive from the villa (around 12-15mins) and you’ll discover Babi Guling (roast suckling pig), Nasi Ayam Champur (BBQ chicken with mixed vegetable dishes and rice), Serombotan (Mark did not mention this vegetarian dish with peanut and chilli sauces actually originated in Gianyar and the locals are very proud of this fact) and much more. If you don’t want to ‘brave’ the food (and actually it is very safe, being incredibly fresh), you can still visit after dining at the villa and enjoy Pisang Goreng (fried banana; quite safe to eat) and just enjoy the company of Balinese as they dine and shop at the clothing and other market stores.
